This was THE BEST MARGARITA EVA!!! Delicious. Thank you for the amazing recipe. This one’s a keeper.
Give me a second, I’m just reflecting on the fact that this is going to be the last weekend of summer. 😭
Minnesota in the fall might be the most divine places on earth, but, ugh. Summer. WHY. The struggle is real.
Regrouping in 3… 2…
Today we’ve got a teeny fun lil video to prove to you how easy it is to make a pitcher of margaritas for your next crowd, whenever they might find you, like probably in one and a half days for the holiday weekend!
How To Make Our Pitcher Margaritas:
I’ll be honest with you – Savory Sojourn has seen about 1.75 drink recipes in its five years of existence, which is 100% fitting to who I am as a person. The Blog Me would like to know mixed drinks and crafted cocktails inside and out and pat myself on the back for being halfway through my training as a sommelier. Or something. I don’t even know if I’m talking about it right.
But the Real Me is the one who makes margaritas in a pitcher at home in my yoga pants (that’s generous – let’s just call sweats what they are) and serves them at dinner club and brings them over to Neighbor Nights and makes them for occasional friends-are-coming-over weekend shindig. That’s about as drink-y as things get around here.
Lucky for anyone who might happen to be at my house this weekend, the Real Me is showing up with a pitcher of margaritas to share!
Labor Day Weekend is almost upon us – I am chronically late to everything EXCEPT a good long weekend – and I have a feeling that all the friends are coming over to everywhere, and all the foods are going to be eaten, and all of said friends are going to feel happy things together. Like, for instance, if you want to talk food: tacos and hot dogs and Juicy Lucys and state fair food and homemade crackers and cheese and chips and that one corn dip again. <- PS. This corn dip is only in my life because I have a dinner club. Yeah. You need to go start a dinner club TODAY.
If you’re making these and you want real lime juice in there (TRUST ME YOU DO), please use one of those nifty citrus juicers.
It’s $20 that will save you a heap-ton of work about 10x a year when you have parties and make these margaritas. Order it on Amazon if you are living the good life with that amazing thing known as two-day Prime delivery, or pick one up at Target when you go out to get your limes later today. SO worth it.
Pitcher Style Margaritas for a Crowd
- Total Time: 7 minutes
- Yield: 8 servings 1x
Description
Pitcher Margaritas for a Crowd – all you need is simple syrup, lime juice, and tequila. These make THE BEST party drinks!
Ingredients
- 1 part simple syrup
- 2 parts lime juice
- 3 parts tequila
Instructions
- Make the simple syrup by boiling water and stirring in an equal measurement of sugar until dissolved (i.e. one cup water + one cup sugar).
- Stir the simple syrup, lime juice, and tequila together.
- Cut a lime into wedges and use one wedge to wet the rim of the glass. Place salt in a dish and tip the glass upside down into the salt so it sticks to the wet rim.
- Add ice cubes to each glass and pour the margaritas into the glasses – these will be strong and a big handful of ice helps balance it all out. We also put the ice right in the pitcher for our last party and that worked fine, too. Place a little lime wedge on the rim of the glass as pictured for looks!
Notes
Measurements:
If you use a cup measure as your “part”, you’ll get about 8 servings.
1 cup simple syrup + 2 cups lime juice + 3 parts tequila = 6 cups
6 cups = 1 average-sized pitcher = 8 individual margaritas
It took me about 15-20 small limes to get 2 cups lime juice.
Scale up or down as needed depending on the size of your group!
Store any leftover margaritas in the fridge. Good news: this will keep for quite a while! 🙂 Just cover the top of the pitcher well so it doesn’t get any weird fridge tastes.

One More Thing!
This recipe is part of our collection of favorite drink recipes. Check it out!
I love pitcher drinks…sometimes I think every drink recipe should be for a big pitcher of drinks! Sooooo much easier!
How did you know I was thinking I needed to step up my Thirsty Thursday game? And by “step up” I mean drink the whole pitcher which is supposed to be for a crowd, but it’s been one of “those” weeks! Love a classic margarita, and I want to sip these all day! Pinned!
Thanks Taylor! 🙂 Appreciate that!
My biggest pet peeve is making drinks for a party, but having to make them one or two at a time. 🙂 Problem: solved!
Love the video. These margaritas look perfect for this weekend!
I know, cute video =) These drinks look so refreshing. Sigh. Right before I send my baby off to Kindergarten. She’s excited. I’m crying. I guess that’s just life.
Aw, so bittersweet, Laura!
Thanks Emily!
Nothing beats homemade margs! And this recipe looks so simple…they have to be fantastic!
I agree Tara!
We were on the same mind space today. I made a cocktail recipe too and posted it on my blog, even though I hardly if ever drink. Love how you made a pitcher of margaritas – you’re so generous.. 🙂
You know me… always sharing… 😉
Great recipe, but I’m a little confused by the last sentence where it says Store any leftover margaritas in the fridge. What are leftover margaritas ? 🙂
lol – um, I guess that refers to the time you make it for your blog, without any real friends around on a random Tuesday, and can only drink so many in a day…. 😉
Ahhhhh <3 we don't even drink but these are just adorable and look so refreshing…but what I am REALLY raving over is that gorgeously beautiful and stunningly rich (ignore the adjective overuse) tray you are serving them on! Would this happen to be from the etsy shop you mentioned forever-ago or somewhere new?! NEEDS IT NOW.
Yes! you have an AMAZING memory! It’s from Hurd and Honey. They are the BEST!
OMG, you KNOW I’m going to be making these this weekend. Super simple and delicious-looking! Thank you!
Thanks Nicolle! Enjoy!
How refreshing! And they look so simple. I love lime in drinks. Lime is the king of summertime. Yum!
That it is! We have to soak it up before fall officially starts!
I need to start doing a dinner club! That’s an amazing idea. As are these simple margaritas. What a way to send off summer!
Enjoy, Katie!
Love these! I always have the hardest time squeezing the limes but so far the limes this summer have been super fresh and juicy! I need to make time for margaritas one more time before fall!
Hope you like them, Taylor!
Perfect timing because not only is it end-of-summer weekend but BIRTHDAY weekend… and i pretty much want to drink away that added candle on top of my cake this year. Slide the entire pitcher right on over 🙂
Haha! Well happy birthday, Holly. Enjoy. 🙂
I love pitcher drinks and this reicpe is so amazing. Thanks
Thanks, Roosevelt!
Super cute video. I really liked the length, although it is especially dangerous as I now know how easy peasy it is to make my own pitcher of margarita.
It sure is! Enjoy, Nomes!
This looks so refreshing! An ice cold pitcher of magarita is definitely a crowd pleaser. 🙂
I made this last night and taste was delicious. Will prepare for a group now and enjoy. 🙂
Awesome, Aan!
Simple and cute video….:)
Thanks, Puja!
I always forget about pitcher drinks when I have people over. I’m always firing up the margarita machine when I could be sitting back and actually hanging out with my guests.
I like to add a splash of OJ or some orange bitters to the 3:2:1 recipe. Give it a try!
Sounds great, Anthony!
Love the simplicity for a large crowd! Delicious and great for entertaining. This will be at my BBQ for Labor Day festivities.
Enjoy, Erica! 🙂
This was THE BEST MARGARITA EVA!!! Delicious. Thank you for the amazing recipe. This one’s a keeper.
Thanks, Esther!
I love all of your recipes, and until today, my fave was the magic green sauce. But then, I made these margaritas for my daughter’s 7th birthday (for the grown ups only, of course!), and it just made the whole affair so much more fun. Because…these are the best margaritas ever. Truth.
This is the simpliest one ive found. Is it super sweet or just slightly sweet?
Also, as far as parts for tequila, how many cups do you add of tequila?? Thanks 🙂
Hi Josie! It’s totally up to you. For the video, we’d guess it was about 3 cups. 🙂
Hi Josie,
Just curious if you made these and can comment on the sweet factor? I’m curious also. : )
Excellent! And that’s coming from a margarita snob. Thank you for the recipe!
Sorry I am late to this party but is the ratio for simple syrup the same as agave?
What Brand of Tequila did you use ? This looks soooo yummm!
We just picked up a bottle of what the local liquor store had. Any brand will work. 🙂
